William Abraham (Irish politician)

William Abraham (14 June 1840 – 18 January 1915) was an Irish nationalist politician and Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Born in Ballynure, County Limerick, Abraham was educated locally. He worked as a gardener and later as a labourer. He became involved in trade unionism and became a prominent figure in the Irish National League, serving as its treasurer.

Abraham was first elected as an MP for West Limerick at the 1885 general election. He was re-elected at subsequent elections, sitting as a Parnellite Home Rule MP. Following the split in the Irish Parliamentary Party after the O'Shea divorce scandal, he sided with Parnell.

In 1892, Abraham was elected for North-East Cork, holding that seat until his death in 1915. He was a staunch supporter of Home Rule for Ireland and often spoke on issues relating to land reform and the rights of agricultural labourers. Abraham was also involved in the United Irish League.

He was known for his strong advocacy for the interests of his constituents and his commitment to the cause of Irish nationalism. He died in Dublin in January 1915 and is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery.
