White Snake (film)
White Snake is a 2019 Chinese-American computer-animated fantasy action film co-directed by Amp Wong and Zhao Ji, and produced by Light Chaser Animation Studios. It is inspired by the Chinese folktale Legend of the White Snake.
The film tells the story of Blanca (Bai Suzhen), a snake demon who loses her memory after an assassination attempt goes wrong. She is found by Xuan, a snake catcher from a nearby village. As they journey together to uncover Blanca's past, they fall in love, facing threats from both human and demon worlds. The story explores themes of love, destiny, prejudice, and the conflict between humanity and the supernatural.
White Snake was released in China on January 11, 2019, and received generally positive reviews for its animation quality, storytelling, and cultural influences. A sequel, White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake, was released in 2021.
