Wellington (federal electoral district)
Wellington was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that existed at various times between 1867 and 2004. The riding's boundaries shifted over time, generally encompassing portions of Wellington County.
Historically, the electoral district was known as Wellington North and Wellington South, representing separate ridings within the county. These were later merged or redistributed into larger entities.
The district's political leanings varied throughout its history, with representation from the Liberal, Conservative, and Progressive Conservative parties. Elections within Wellington often reflected the broader political trends in southwestern Ontario.
Notable Members of Parliament who represented Wellington include individuals who served during periods of significant national political events. The riding disappeared following electoral redistribution in 2003, with its territory being incorporated into other ridings such as Wellington—Halton Hills and Perth—Wellington.
Electoral results for Wellington are available in historical records of Canadian federal elections. These records detail the vote counts, candidates, and winning parties for each election held in the district during its existence.
