Wang Chen (physician)
Wang Chen is a Chinese physician specializing in respiratory and critical care medicine. He is widely recognized for his expertise in pulmonary diseases, particularly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer.
Dr. Wang is currently the President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). He is also the Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases and the Director of the Institute of Respiratory Medicine at CAMS.
His research interests include the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of COPD, as well as the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for lung cancer. He has published extensively in leading medical journals and has played a significant role in shaping national guidelines for respiratory disease management in China.
Dr. Wang has been instrumental in the public health response to respiratory disease outbreaks, including SARS and COVID-19. His leadership during these crises has been recognized both nationally and internationally.
