Volta (album)

Volta is the sixth studio album by Icelandic singer Björk, released on May 1, 2007, by One Little Indian Records. The album is named after Björk's mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir's, mother.

Volta saw Björk collaborating with a range of artists, including Timbaland, Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Konono N°1, and Brian Chippendale of Lightning Bolt. The album explores themes of exploration, identity, and the power of the individual. Sonically, Volta is characterized by its fusion of electronic music, brass arrangements, and traditional instrumentation from various cultures.

The album spawned several singles, including "Earth Intruders," "Innocence," "Declare Independence," "Wanderlust," and "The Dull Flame of Desire." These singles were accompanied by music videos that further explored the album's themes and visual aesthetic.
