Volkswagen Transporter (T6)
The Volkswagen Transporter (T6) is the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Transporter van range. Introduced in 2015, it is a direct evolution of the T5, rather than a complete redesign. While featuring updated exterior styling and interior features, it shares a similar chassis and overall architecture with its predecessor.
The T6 retained the engine options from the later T5 models, albeit with improvements to fuel efficiency and emissions. These engines included a range of TDI diesel engines and TSI petrol engines, with varying power outputs. Drivetrain options include front-wheel drive and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
The T6 is available in various body styles, including the panel van (Transporter), passenger van (Caravelle), lifestyle-oriented van (Multivan), and campervan (California). These variants cater to a wide range of needs, from commercial use to family transportation and recreational activities.
Key updates from the T5 included a redesigned dashboard, infotainment systems, and driver assistance features. These improvements aimed to modernize the vehicle and enhance the driving experience.
In 2019, Volkswagen introduced the T6.1, a facelifted version of the T6. The T6.1 featured further styling updates, an updated dashboard with digital cockpit options, and enhanced connectivity features. While marketed as a significant update, it remained based on the same fundamental platform as the T6 and T5.
