Martin Lalor

Martin Lalor (born circa 1807, died January 27, 1891) was an Irish political activist and one of the leaders of the Irish Confederation during the Young Irelander Rebellion of 1848. He was a prominent figure in the Tenant Right movement, advocating for the rights of tenant farmers in Ireland. Lalor served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Queen's County (Laois) from 1847 to 1852. He was known for his strong nationalist views and his advocacy for land reform. Following the failed 1848 rebellion, he was arrested but later released. He remained involved in Irish politics for much of his life, continuing to campaign for tenant rights and greater self-government for Ireland.
