Vladimir Platonov (politician)

Vladimir Platonov is a Russian politician who served as the Chairman of the Moscow City Duma from 2001 to 2014.

Platonov was born on September 10, 1954. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology. He held various positions in the Communist Party before transitioning into business and later, politics in post-Soviet Russia.

As Chairman of the Moscow City Duma, Platonov was a key figure in the city's legislative branch, overseeing the development and enactment of laws governing Moscow. His tenure saw significant urban development projects and changes in the city's infrastructure and social policies. He was often associated with the political establishment under Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and later, under Sergey Sobyanin.

After stepping down as Chairman in 2014, he remained a deputy in the Moscow City Duma for a time before retiring from active politics. He is currently involved in academic and charitable activities.
