Vladimir Andreyev (actor)

Vladimir Andreyev (August 27, 1930 – August 29, 2020) was a Soviet and Russian actor, theater director, and pedagogue. He was a People's Artist of the USSR (1985) and a laureate of the USSR State Prize (1977).

Andreyev was born in Moscow. He graduated from the Lunacharsky State Institute for Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 1952 and began his acting career at the Yermolova Theatre, where he remained for many years, eventually becoming its artistic director.

Throughout his career, Andreyev appeared in numerous films and television productions, becoming known for his versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters. He was particularly recognized for his roles in historical dramas and adaptations of classic literature. He also directed several stage productions.

Andreyev also dedicated a significant part of his career to teaching acting. He taught at GITIS, contributing to the training of many generations of Russian actors.

He died in Moscow two days after his 90th birthday.
