Line 9 (Guangzhou Metro)
Line 9 of the Guangzhou Metro (Chinese: 广州地铁9号线; pinyin: Guǎngzhōu Dìtiě Jiǔ Hào Xiàn) is a rapid transit line operating in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It runs primarily in a northeast-southwest direction, connecting the northern district of Huadu with the city center and other parts of the Guangzhou Metro network. The line provides crucial access to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (via a connection at Gaozeng station) and serves residential areas in Huadu that were previously unconnected to the main metro system.
Line 9 is characterized by its relatively long operating intervals compared to more centrally located lines, particularly during off-peak hours. The line's rolling stock is composed of 6-car Type B trains, a standard configuration on the Guangzhou Metro. Construction of the line was complex, involving tunneling through challenging geological conditions and minimizing disruption to existing infrastructure. Opened in December 2017, Line 9 has significantly improved connectivity for residents of Huadu and contributed to the overall expansion of the Guangzhou Metro system.
