Jake O'Brien (footballer)

Jake O'Brien (born 8 November 2001) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Lyon.

O'Brien began his career in Ireland, playing for Leixlip United and also had a spell with Cherry Orchard before joining Cork City's academy. He progressed through the youth ranks at Cork City and made his senior debut for the club.

In January 2021, O'Brien signed for Crystal Palace. He initially played for their U23 team.

On 31 January 2023, O'Brien joined Belgian club RWD Molenbeek on loan until the end of the season.

On 11 August 2023, O'Brien signed for Lyon. He made his debut for the club shortly after.

O'Brien has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth international levels. He received his first call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad in June 2024.
