HMS E55
HMS E55 was a British E-class submarine built by Vickers, Barrow-in-Furness. She was launched on 14 August 1916 and commissioned in October 1916. During World War I, HMS E55 operated in the North Sea.
E55 is notable for sinking the German U-boat U-81 on 1 May 1917. This action occurred near the North Hinder light vessel. The U-81 was sunk with all hands lost.
Following World War I, HMS E55 was sold on 6 September 1922 and broken up.
