Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad (film)

Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad is a 1967 American black comedy film directed by Arthur Penn, based on the 1962 play of the same name by Arthur Kopit. The film stars Rosalind Russell, Robert Morse, and Barbara Harris. The plot centers around a highly eccentric and overbearing mother, Madame Rosepettle (Russell), her shy and repressed son, Jonathan (Morse), and their experiences during a vacation in a Caribbean resort. Jonathan carries with him the taxidermied corpse of his father, which Madame Rosepettle treats as if he were still alive.

The film satirizes themes of dysfunctional families, overbearing motherhood, sexual repression, and the absurdities of modern life. Its humor is often dark and unconventional. While based on the play, the film adaptation incorporates more visual gags and broad comedic elements. The film was not a critical or commercial success upon its release.
