Vlčnov

Vlčnov is a village and municipality in the Uherské Hradiště District of the Zlín Region, Czech Republic. It is located in the historical region of Moravia. The village is primarily known for its annual Ride of the Kings (Jízda králů) folk festival, which is recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The Ride of the Kings in Vlčnov is one of the most famous and well-preserved examples of this tradition in the Czech Republic. The festival, typically held in May, involves a procession of young men on horseback, one of whom is designated the "king" and is adorned with elaborate decorations. The tradition dates back several centuries and has various origin stories, often linked to historical events and rites of passage. Besides the Ride of the Kings, Vlčnov is also known for its traditional folk architecture and costumes, as well as its vineyards and wine production.
