VFA-22

VFA-22, also known as Strike Fighter Squadron 22, is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The squadron is part of Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) and is currently equipped with the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

History:

VFA-22 has a long and storied history, dating back to World War II. It has undergone several redesignations throughout its existence, reflecting changes in aircraft and mission. Originally established as VF-22, a fighter squadron, it transitioned to an attack squadron (VA-22) and eventually to its current strike fighter role.

Mission:

The primary mission of VFA-22 is to project power from the sea, conducting strike and fighter operations in support of carrier air wing objectives. This includes air-to-air combat, air-to-ground attack, and close air support.
