Uno (dicycle)

A dicycle, sometimes also referred to as a self-balancing unicycle or a dynamic unicycle, is a vehicle with only two wheels, arranged side-by-side, rather than front-to-back as on a bicycle. The rider sits above or between the wheels, and the vehicle is inherently unstable in the fore-aft direction.

To maintain balance, dicycles typically employ a control system that actively adjusts the wheel positions. This is often accomplished using electric motors and sophisticated sensor data, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers, to detect imbalances and initiate corrective actions. The rider controls the vehicle by leaning in the desired direction, similar to a Segway or a more conventional unicycle. This lean is sensed by the control system, which adjusts the wheel speeds accordingly to move the dicycle in that direction and maintain stability.

Dicycles are often built as research platforms to explore dynamic stability and control algorithms. They have also appeared as novelty vehicles and in entertainment, but are not generally considered practical for mainstream transportation due to their complexity and inherent instability when the control system is not actively engaged. The term "Uno" in this context refers to a specific model or prototype of a dicycle, and may not be a universally recognized descriptor for all dicycles.
