Angelou (crater)
Angelou is a crater located on Mercury. It is named in honor of Maya Angelou, the American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. The crater is situated in the northern hemisphere of Mercury and is characterized by its relatively young age and well-defined features. Its diameter is approximately 19 kilometers. The naming of the crater after Angelou aligns with the International Astronomical Union's (IAU) practice of naming craters on Mercury after deceased artists, musicians, or writers who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their field. The crater's morphology is of interest to planetary scientists studying the impact history and surface processes of Mercury.
