USS Cabot
USS Cabot was the name of two United States Navy ships:
-
USS Cabot (CVL-28), an Independence-class light aircraft carrier, commissioned in 1943 and served in World War II. She received the Presidential Unit Citation and nine battle stars for her wartime service. After being placed in reserve, she was loaned to Spain in 1967 and renamed Dédalo. Dédalo served as the Spanish Navy's aircraft carrier until 1989. She was returned to the United States in 1989 with the intention of becoming a museum ship, but these efforts failed. She was ultimately scrapped in 2002.
-
USS Cabot (DE-741), a proposed Edsall-class destroyer escort, which was cancelled prior to construction in 1944. The name was then reassigned to the light aircraft carrier.
