USCGC Vigilant (WMEC-617)

The USCGC Vigilant (WMEC-617) is a United States Coast Guard medium endurance cutter. A 210-foot Reliance-class cutter, Vigilant is homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida.

Vigilant's primary missions include search and rescue, maritime law enforcement (including drug interdiction and fisheries enforcement), and homeland security operations. As a medium endurance cutter, it is capable of extended patrols at sea, often operating in the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Reliance-class cutters are designed for multi-mission operations. Vigilant is equipped with a flight deck capable of supporting helicopter operations, although it does not typically deploy with a permanently assigned helicopter. It is also armed with a 76mm gun.

Vigilant, like other Coast Guard cutters, plays a vital role in protecting U.S. interests and enforcing maritime laws. Its crew is responsible for responding to distress calls, interdicting illegal narcotics trafficking, and ensuring the safety and security of U.S. waterways.
