Tiruttani

Tiruttani is a town in the Tiruvallur district of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is an important pilgrimage center, primarily known for the Murugan Temple dedicated to Lord Muruga (also known as Kartikeya).

The Tiruttani Murugan Temple, situated on a hill, is one of the six abodes (Arupadaiveedu) of Lord Muruga. Legend states that Lord Muruga rested here after his battle with the demon Surapadman. The temple is particularly significant as it commemorates Muruga's victory over the demon and his marriage to Valli.

The town is located approximately 84 kilometers from Chennai. It is accessible by road and rail, with a railway station serving as a stop for trains on the Chennai-Mumbai route. The town's economy is largely supported by the influx of pilgrims visiting the Murugan Temple.

Besides the Murugan Temple, Tiruttani has other smaller temples and religious sites. Agriculture also contributes to the local economy. The climate is generally hot and humid.
