Bahurim
Bahurim (Hebrew: בַּחוּרִים) was a town in the territory of the tribe of Benjamin, east of Jerusalem, mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible. Its precise location is uncertain but is believed to be near the modern-day Palestinian village of Ras et-Tawil.
Bahurim is primarily known for its association with several key events in the lives of King David and his predecessors. Notably, it was the location where Shimei ben Gera cursed and threw stones at David as David fled Jerusalem during the rebellion of his son Absalom (2 Samuel 16:5-14). It was also near Bahurim that Jonathan and Ahimaaz, David's spies, hid in a well to avoid being captured by Absalom's men (2 Samuel 17:17-21).
The town appears to have been small but strategically significant due to its position along a route between Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley. The incidents recorded in the Bible suggest it was inhabited by individuals with strong loyalties and opinions, making it a place of potential conflict and intrigue during periods of political unrest.
