Thunder Lake (Alberta)

Thunder Lake is a large freshwater lake located in central Alberta, Canada. It is situated approximately 160 kilometers (99 miles) northwest of Edmonton, near the town of Barrhead.

Geography:

The lake's surface area is approximately 55 square kilometers (21 square miles). It is characterized by relatively shallow waters, with an average depth of around 6 meters (20 feet) and a maximum depth of approximately 9 meters (30 feet). The lake's shoreline is irregular, featuring numerous bays and inlets. Several small streams and rivers drain into Thunder Lake, while its primary outflow is the Pembina River.

Ecology:

Thunder Lake supports a diverse ecosystem, including a variety of fish species such as walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and whitefish. The surrounding area consists of mixed boreal forest, providing habitat for a range of wildlife, including moose, deer, bears, and various bird species.

Recreation:
