Caerdydd Penarth (Senedd constituency)
Caerdydd Penarth is a constituency of the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) created in 1999. It elects one Member of the Senedd (MS) by the first past the post electoral system. It is one of eight constituencies within the South Wales Central electoral region.
Boundaries:
The constituency covers the areas of Cardiff and Penarth. Specifically, it comprises the electoral divisions of:
- In Cardiff: Butetown, Canton, Cathays, Central, Llandaff, Penylan, Plasnewydd, Riverside, Roath.
- In Vale of Glamorgan: Baruc, Cornerswell, Llandough, Plymouth, St Augustines, Stanwell, Sully.
History:
The constituency was created for the first Senedd election in 1999, with the same boundaries as the Cardiff Central parliamentary constituency. In 2010, the UK parliamentary seat of Cardiff Central was re-drawn; however, the boundaries of the Senedd constituency of Caerdydd Penarth remained unchanged.
