Thomas Collins (bishop of Meath)

Thomas Collins (bishop of Meath) was an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman who served as the Bishop of Meath from 1894 to 1917.

Born in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Collins was educated at St. Finian's College, Navan, and Maynooth College. He was ordained a priest in 1866. Before being appointed Bishop of Meath, he served as president of St. Finian's College for many years.

As Bishop of Meath, Collins oversaw various developments within the diocese, including the building and renovation of churches and schools. He was a strong advocate for Catholic education and played a significant role in the promotion of temperance. He participated in various national synods and played an active role in the Irish political landscape, often voicing his opinions on matters of public concern.

Bishop Collins is remembered for his dedication to his pastoral duties and his commitment to the welfare of the Catholic community within the Diocese of Meath. He died in 1917 and is buried in Navan.
