The Tea Party (band)
The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with industrial rock, blues, and Middle Eastern music influences, dubbed "Moroccan roll" by the media. Formed in Windsor, Ontario, in 1990, the band consists of Jeff Martin (vocals, guitar), Stuart Chatwood (bass, keyboards), and Jeff Burrows (drums, percussion).
The Tea Party achieved mainstream success in Canada and Australia throughout the 1990s and early 2000s with albums such as Splendor Solis, The Edges of Twilight, and Transmission. Their music is characterized by Martin's distinctive baritone vocals, Chatwood's intricate keyboard and bass arrangements, and Burrows' powerful and diverse drumming. The band is also known for incorporating world music elements, particularly those inspired by Middle Eastern and North African traditions, into their sound.
The Tea Party disbanded in 2005 due to creative differences but reunited in 2011. Since then, they have toured extensively and released new music, including the album The Ocean at the End in 2014 and Blood Moon Rising in 2024. They remain a popular live act, known for their energetic performances and eclectic musical style.
