The Long Run (album)

The Long Run is the sixth studio album by the American rock band the Eagles, released on September 24, 1979. It was the last studio album the band released before their 1994 reunion album, Hell Freezes Over. Three singles were released from the album: "Heartache Tonight," "The Long Run," and "I Can't Tell You Why."

Recording sessions for The Long Run were protracted and fraught with tension, reflecting the band's increasingly strained relationships. The album represents a blend of rock, pop, and country influences, characteristic of the Eagles' sound. "Heartache Tonight" became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, while "The Long Run" and "I Can't Tell You Why" both reached the top ten.

Despite the internal turmoil during its creation, The Long Run was a commercial success, reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart and achieving multi-platinum status. While some critics considered it a less cohesive and inspired work compared to their earlier albums like Hotel California, it remains a significant part of the Eagles' discography and cemented their status as one of the biggest bands of the 1970s.
