The Dark Path (McIntee novel)
The Dark Path is a science fiction novel written by David McIntee, published in 2007. It is part of the Doctor Who New Series Adventures range, based on the relaunched 2005 Doctor Who television series. The novel features the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, and his companion Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman.
The story centers around a seemingly utopian society called the Consensus, which has eradicated all disease and suffering. The Doctor and Martha arrive and quickly discover that the Consensus's idyllic existence comes at a terrible price: individual freedoms and personal identities are suppressed. The "Dark Path" refers to the sinister methods employed by the Consensus to maintain its control, including brainwashing and forced assimilation. The Doctor and Martha must uncover the truth behind the Consensus and expose its dark secrets before they, too, are consumed by its artificial perfection. The novel explores themes of conformity, individuality, and the ethical implications of technological advancement.
