Thủ Đức (urban district)

Thủ Đức is a former urban district (quận) of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It was one of the city's five urban districts and was located in the northeastern part of the city. In 2021, Thủ Đức was merged with District 2 and District 9 to form Thủ Đức City, a city within a city, officially known as a municipal city (thành phố thuộc thành phố).

Prior to the merger, Thủ Đức District was known for its diverse economy, including industry, education, and commerce. It was home to several universities, including the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City's University of Social Sciences and Humanities campus. It also housed industrial parks and residential areas.

The district's boundaries were shared with Binh Thanh District, District 9, and Đồng Nai province before its incorporation into Thủ Đức City.
