John Barry (bishop)

John Barry (born 24 March 1900, died 24 November 1975) was an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman. He served as the Bishop of Goulburn, Australia, from 1948 until his retirement in 1971.

Barry was educated at St. Kieran's College, Kilkenny, and St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. He was ordained a priest in 1924. He served as a curate in various parishes in the Archdiocese of Dublin before being appointed secretary to Archbishop Byrne in 1931. He later became the administrator of St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin.

In 1948, Barry was appointed Bishop of Goulburn and was consecrated on 16 June 1948. During his time as bishop, he oversaw significant expansion in Catholic education and infrastructure within the diocese. He retired in 1971 and was succeeded by Bishop Cullinane.
