James Richmond (Medal of Honor)

James Richmond (born May 21, 1844, died July 20, 1932) was a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Stones River, Tennessee, on December 31, 1862. As a private in Company F, 21st Ohio Infantry, Richmond voluntarily left his position in the front lines under heavy enemy fire to assist a severely wounded comrade, carrying him to safety. His citation recognizes his bravery and willingness to risk his life to save another.
