Telomian
Telomian refers to a breed of dog originating from Malaysia. These dogs were traditionally kept by the Orang Asli, indigenous people of Peninsular Malaysia, and are known for their unique ability to climb trees. This climbing ability is believed to have developed as a means to escape predators and scavenge for food stored on platforms.
Telomians are typically small to medium in size, with a lean build and agile movements. They possess strong legs and flexible joints, which contribute to their climbing proficiency. Their temperament is generally described as intelligent, alert, and active. They are often loyal to their families but can be wary of strangers.
The breed is relatively rare outside of Malaysia, and efforts are underway to preserve and promote the Telomian dog as a unique part of Malaysian heritage. Their tree-climbing behavior and association with the Orang Asli communities make them a distinctive and culturally significant breed. While not officially recognized by all major kennel clubs, dedicated breeders and enthusiasts are working towards greater recognition and conservation of the Telomian.
