Tabaung

Tabaung is the twelfth and final month of the traditional Burmese calendar. It roughly corresponds to March in the Gregorian calendar. It falls during the hot season in Myanmar, before the monsoon rains begin.

Tabaung is marked by several significant festivals. The most prominent is the Shwedagon Pagoda Festival, a major event that draws pilgrims and visitors from across Myanmar and beyond. This festival involves offerings, prayers, entertainment, and other religious activities. Other pagoda festivals may also occur during Tabaung in various regions.

The full moon of Tabaung is considered a particularly auspicious day in Theravada Buddhism, often associated with important events in the life of the Buddha. Many Buddhists observe the full moon day with increased religious observances, such as visiting pagodas, offering alms, and meditating.
