July 5 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics)
In the Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendar, July 5 is the date on which the following commemorations are observed:
- Hieromartyr Eusebius, Bishop of Samosata (379)
- Righteous Athanasius of Athos, Abbot (c. 1000)
- The uncovering of the relics (1422) of Saint Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh (1392)
- Saint Lampados the Wonderworker of Irenopolis (8th century)
- Venerable Anatolius, recluse of the Near Caves in Kiev (12th century)
- Saint Cyprian of Suzdal, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Russia (1406)
- New Martyr Constantine of Alexandria (1819)
- Synaxis of the Saints of Radonezh
- Icon of the Mother of God of Pochaev (1661)
It is important to note that in the Eastern Orthodox Church, liturgical commemorations are typically observed on the Julian calendar. For those Orthodox churches which follow the Revised Julian calendar (which aligns more closely with the Gregorian calendar), these commemorations are celebrated on July 18.
