Svetlana Orlova (politician)
Svetlana Yuryevna Orlova (Russian: Светлана Юрьевна Орлова, born October 13, 1954) is a Russian politician. She served as the Governor of Vladimir Oblast from 2013 to 2018.
Orlova graduated from the Moscow Cooperative Institute. She began her career in the trade union movement.
She was a member of the Federation Council of Russia, representing the Republic of Kalmykia and later the Kemerovo Oblast. She served as Deputy Chairwoman of the Federation Council from 2004 to 2013.
In 2013, Orlova was appointed acting Governor of Vladimir Oblast by President Vladimir Putin. She won the gubernatorial election later that year. In 2018, she lost her re-election bid to Vladimir Sipyagin of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia.
After her time as governor, she was appointed an auditor of the Accounts Chamber of Russia.
