Submarine Commander (Atari 2600)
Submarine Commander is a single-player video game released by Atari, Inc. in 1982 for the Atari 2600 video game console. The game puts the player in control of a submarine navigating a scrolling ocean environment. The player’s objective is to sink enemy ships, which appear on the surface and drop depth charges.
The gameplay involves maneuvering the submarine horizontally across the screen using the joystick. The player can also control the submarine's depth, moving it up or down in the water to avoid depth charges and target enemy ships. The player fires torpedoes upward to sink the ships.
The game features progressively increasing difficulty. As the player advances, the speed and frequency of the enemy ships increase, and the depth charges become more challenging to avoid. Points are awarded for each ship sunk. The game continues until the player's submarine is destroyed by a depth charge. Submarine Commander offers a variety of game variations that adjust difficulty and gameplay elements.
