Sturgeon River (Lake Nipissing)

The Sturgeon River is a river in Northeastern Ontario, Canada, that flows into Lake Nipissing. Its source lies in the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, from which it travels south and east for approximately 177 kilometers (110 miles) before entering the northwest corner of Lake Nipissing.

The river is a significant waterway for both its ecological and historical importance. It drains a substantial watershed area and provides crucial habitat for various fish and wildlife species. Historically, the Sturgeon River served as an important transportation route for Indigenous peoples and later for fur traders and logging operations.
