David Wilcox (Canadian musician)

David Wilcox (born July 13, 1949) is a Canadian rock and blues musician, guitarist, and songwriter. He is known for his distinctive guitar playing and gravelly voice, and for his songwriting, which often explores themes of relationships, social commentary, and introspection.

Wilcox began his musical career in the 1970s, playing in various bands before forming his own band, David Wilcox and the Teddybears, in 1977. He achieved mainstream success in the 1980s with albums like "Out of the Fire" (1983), "Bad Reputation" (1984), and "Breakfast at the Circus" (1987), which spawned hit singles such as "Downtown Came Uptown," "Hot, Hot Papa," and "That's What the Doctor Said."

Throughout his career, Wilcox has released numerous albums and toured extensively across Canada and internationally. He has been nominated for several Juno Awards (Canada's music awards) and has won several SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) awards for his songwriting.
