Romen (river)
The Romen is a river located in Ukraine, a left tributary of the Sula River. It flows through the Chernihiv and Sumy Oblasts (provinces) of Ukraine.
Geography and Hydrology:
The Romen is approximately 111 kilometers (69 miles) in length. Its drainage basin covers an area of 1,645 square kilometers (635 square miles). The river's width varies along its course. The river’s source is near the village of Prylutske in the Chernihiv Oblast. It generally flows in a southeastern direction before joining the Sula River.
Settlements:
Several villages and settlements are located along the banks of the Romen River. These include, but are not limited to, the villages of Prylutske (near the source), and Romny (through which the river passes). The city of Romny in Sumy Oblast is named after the river.
Economy and Significance:
The Romen River is used for a variety of purposes, including irrigation and local water supply. It also has historical and cultural significance, particularly in relation to the city named after it. The river contributes to the local ecosystem and supports various aquatic life.
