Star-K

Star-K Kosher Certification is one of the largest and most widely recognized kosher certification agencies in North America. It provides kosher supervision and certification services to food manufacturers, restaurants, caterers, and other food-related businesses worldwide. Established in 1967, Star-K is known for its rigorous standards and commitment to upholding Jewish dietary laws (kashrut).

The agency employs a team of Rabbinic administrators and field representatives (Mashgichim) who inspect facilities, review ingredients, and oversee production processes to ensure compliance with kosher requirements. They verify that all ingredients are kosher certified and that production equipment is properly cleaned and prepared to avoid cross-contamination with non-kosher substances.

Star-K certification is indicated by a symbol, usually a star inside a "K," prominently displayed on product packaging. This symbol assures consumers that the product meets Star-K's kosher standards. The agency certifies a wide range of products, including processed foods, beverages, dietary supplements, and ingredients.

Beyond certification, Star-K provides educational resources about kashrut, including articles, guides, and seminars. They also offer consumer information about kosher products and services.

Star-K is a member of the Association of Kashruth Organizations (AKO), a professional organization of kosher certifying agencies. The agency’s certifications are recognized and accepted by many other kosher certification agencies globally.
