St Peter Island (South Australia)
St Peter Island is an island located in the far western reaches of South Australia, within the Nuyts Archipelago. It is the second largest island in the Archipelago and lies approximately 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) south of Ceduna.
The island is predominantly used for pastoral purposes, primarily sheep grazing. It forms part of the Nuyts Archipelago Wilderness Protection Area, managed by the Department for Environment and Water South Australia. This designation recognizes the significant ecological and conservation values of the island, contributing to the protection of its native flora and fauna.
While privately owned, some sections may be leased for tourism or environmental research. Access is restricted and requires permission from the landowner or relevant managing authority. St Peter Island offers important habitat for various bird species and marine life.
