William Marshall (tennis)

William Marshall was an American tennis player active in the late 19th century. He is best known for winning the Men's Singles title at the U.S. National Championships (now the US Open) in 1896, defeating Robert Wrenn in the final in five sets. He did not defend his title the following year. Little other biographical information is widely available about his life and career.
