Beni Mezline

Beni Mezline (also sometimes spelled Beni Mazline or variations thereof depending on transliteration) refers to an Algerian Berber tribe or a group of tribes located in the Kabylie region of Algeria. They are part of the larger Kabyle confederation.

Historically, the Beni Mezline, like other Kabyle tribes, maintained a fiercely independent social structure and a tradition of resistance against external rule, including the French colonial forces. Their societal organization was based on a system of village assemblies (tajmaat) that governed local affairs and customary law (qanun).

The Beni Mezline primarily speak Kabyle, a Berber language. Agriculture, particularly olive cultivation, played a central role in their traditional economy. Handcrafts, such as weaving and pottery, were also important sources of income.

Little further specific, publicly available, verified detailed encyclopedic information solely on the Beni Mezline exists independently of broader discussions of Kabyle society and history. More detailed information on specific aspects of their history, cultural practices, or geographical distribution may require specialized historical research.
