Côn River
The Côn River (Vietnamese: Sông Côn) is a river located in Bình Định province, in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. It is one of the major rivers in the province, flowing generally from west to east. The river's source is in the An Lão District highlands. It flows through several districts, including An Lão, Vĩnh Thạnh, Tây Sơn, Phù Cát, and Tuy Phước, before emptying into Thị Nại Lagoon (Đầm Thị Nại) and eventually the South China Sea near Quy Nhơn city.
The Côn River plays a significant role in the agricultural and economic activities of Bình Định. Its waters are used for irrigation, supporting rice cultivation and other farming practices in the surrounding areas. It also serves as a source of freshwater for local communities.
The river's watershed encompasses a considerable portion of Bình Định province, and its flow is influenced by seasonal rainfall patterns. During the rainy season, the river can experience significant flooding, which can impact communities along its banks.
The Côn River is also of ecological importance, providing habitat for various aquatic species. Its estuary and the Thị Nại Lagoon are particularly rich in biodiversity.
