Střelná

Střelná is a village and municipality in Zlín District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of 9.41 square kilometres (3.63 sq mi), and has a population of approximately 600 (as of January 1, 2023). Střelná lies approximately 37 kilometres (23 mi) east of Zlín and 293 km (182 mi) east of Prague.

The village is situated in the White Carpathian Mountains (Bílé Karpaty) near the Slovakian border. The terrain is hilly and largely covered by forests and meadows. The primary economic activities include agriculture and forestry. Tourism, particularly hiking and cycling, is also becoming increasingly important due to the area's natural beauty.

Historically, Střelná was a part of the Vsetín estate. The first written mention of the village dates back to the 15th century. The name "Střelná" is derived from the Czech word "střelný," meaning "shootable" or related to shooting, possibly referencing a former shooting range or area used for archery or firearms practice in the vicinity.
