Smudge (band)

Smudge was an Australian indie rock band formed in Sydney in 1991. The band was initially comprised of Tom Morgan (vocals, guitar), Alison Galloway (bass), and Adam Yee (drums). Throughout their career, Smudge was known for their lo-fi aesthetic, melodic songwriting, and Tom Morgan's distinctive vocals.

Smudge released a series of EPs and albums, primarily through Half A Cow Records in Australia. Key releases include the EPs Tea, Toast and Honey (1991) and Don't Want to Get Wet (1993), and the albums Manilow (1994) and Real McCoy Wrong Number (1998). Their music often featured themes of everyday life and relationships, delivered with a wry and sometimes melancholic sensibility.

Smudge gained a following within the Australian independent music scene and toured nationally. They also received international attention through positive reviews and airplay on college radio stations.

The band dissolved in the late 1990s. Tom Morgan continued to be active in music, contributing to other projects and releasing solo material.
