Júlio César (footballer, born November 1978)

Júlio César Soares de Espíndola (born 3 September 1979), commonly known as Júlio César, is a retired Brazilian professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is widely considered one of the best goalkeepers of his generation and one of the greatest Brazilian goalkeepers of all time.

César began his professional career with Flamengo in Brazil, where he established himself as a key player. He then moved to Europe, joining Inter Milan in 2005. At Inter, he enjoyed a highly successful period, winning five Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia three times, and the UEFA Champions League in 2010 as part of a treble-winning season. He also won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010.

After leaving Inter, César played for Queens Park Rangers, Toronto FC, and Benfica before returning to Flamengo for a brief stint to end his career.

At the international level, Júlio César represented Brazil in two FIFA World Cups (2010 and 2014) and three Copa América tournaments. He was Brazil's starting goalkeeper during their run to the quarter-finals in the 2010 World Cup and again when they hosted the tournament in 2014, finishing in fourth place. He earned 87 caps for the Brazilian national team.

Known for his excellent reflexes, shot-stopping ability, command of his area, and composure under pressure, Júlio César was a highly respected figure in world football.
