Shaun Scott (politician)
Shaun Scott (born c. 1984) is an American writer, activist, and politician based in Seattle, Washington. He is known for his involvement in progressive political movements and his focus on issues such as housing affordability, economic justice, and environmental sustainability.
Scott gained prominence during his 2019 campaign for a seat on the Seattle City Council in District 4. Although he lost the election to incumbent Alex Pedersen, his campaign garnered significant attention and support from progressive organizations and individuals. His platform centered on addressing the city's housing crisis through policies such as rent control and increased investment in affordable housing.
Prior to his political career, Scott was a writer and cultural commentator, contributing to publications such as The Stranger and Jacobin. He has also worked as a labor organizer and community activist. His writings often explore the intersection of culture, politics, and social justice. He is the author of the book Millennial Seattle: A Field Guide to Our Contradictions.
