Shaker Village Historic District (Shaker Heights, Ohio)

The Shaker Village Historic District, located in Shaker Heights, Ohio, encompasses a significant portion of the original North Union Shaker settlement. Established in 1822, the North Union Shaker community thrived for several decades, practicing communal living, celibacy, and a commitment to simplicity, pacifism, and equality.

The district is notable for its remaining examples of Shaker architecture, including buildings originally used for residential, agricultural, and industrial purposes. These structures reflect the Shaker emphasis on functional design and quality craftsmanship.
