Seven (2019 Nigerian film)
Seven is a 2019 Nigerian action crime thriller film directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced by Biola Adelekan. The film stars Efa Iwara, Bimbo Manuel, Daddy Showkey, Sadiq Daba, Patrick Diabuah, and Uche Nwaefuna.
The film tells the story of a privileged young man, Kolade (Efa Iwara), who must survive seven days in Ajegunle, a poor and dangerous suburb of Lagos, to inherit his father's (Bimbo Manuel) vast wealth. His father, a wealthy businessman, set this challenge as a condition in his will, wanting to teach his son a lesson about hard work and empathy. Kolade is stripped of his wealth and forced to navigate the unfamiliar and often brutal realities of life in Ajegunle. He is forced to team up with a streetwise local, Agbara (Daddy Showkey), to overcome the challenges and threats he faces, including gang violence and corruption.
The film explores themes of class disparity, redemption, and the importance of family. It received mixed to positive reviews, with praise for its action sequences and performances, particularly Iwara's. Some critics found the plot somewhat predictable but acknowledged its entertainment value and social commentary.
