Robert Wilkin (politician)

Robert Wilkin (1834 – 1907) was a New Zealand politician. He represented the Christchurch electorate in the House of Representatives from 1876 to 1881.

Born in Scotland, Wilkin emigrated to New Zealand and established himself as a businessman in Christchurch. He was a prominent member of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and was involved in various local organizations.

In 1876, Wilkin was elected to Parliament as a member for Christchurch. He served one term and did not seek re-election in 1881. During his time in Parliament, he was considered a conservative and supported policies that favored business interests.

Following his parliamentary service, Wilkin continued his business pursuits and remained active in community affairs in Christchurch until his death in 1907. He is remembered for his contribution to the commercial development of the Canterbury region.
